An Orlando police dog was fatally shot after the animal was accidentally struck by a patrol car and attacked its own handler during a chase.
Police say officer Danny Sidders and his K9 were trying to capture two teenagers running from a stolen vehicle Monday when Sidders' patrol car rolled forward, critically injuring the dog. The officer tried to pull a third suspect out of the vehicle when the dog clamped his jaw into his handler's arm. Police believe the dog, named Viper, was confused because it was in pain.
After minutes of failed attempts to get the dog to stop, the officer was forced to shoot and kill him.
All three teens were arrested and are facing charges.
